Japan July 2013 - Day 4 (Kyoto - Sapporo)
So today is a transit day. Moving from Kyoto to Sapporo.
Checked out by 1030 and passed by the discount pharmacy to buy the Kao Megurism. Last time didn't notice the restriction that one person can only buy 2 boxes at a time, saw it now so bought only 2 boxes. My mum decided to go in and buy 2 more lol. Probably will top up in Tokyo.
Managed to catch the Limited Express Haruka leaving at 1119, but in the rush we got on the wrong car (First class) and so had to move to the unreserved car while the train was moving. With luggage, that can be challenging. We made it to the airport in good time, checked in, had lunch and waited to board the flight.
The flight was fairly warm. Like, seriously? Heat wave in Kyoto but plane no need to maintain that weather lah....
Touching down in Chitose Airport was cool. I mean, like really. The weather here is so much cooler than in Kansai since it out of the heat wave. That heat wave is not funny, the highest temperature today is 39.5 in an area (which name I forgot) in central Japan. Hope the Hokkaido weather is better for my mum.
The place that I am staying at is fairly near JR Sapporo. Thanks to the great recommendation by Sunny! The room is small and compact but has everything you need, they even give freebies to ladies! You can choose 3 items out of a basket.
I took a while to figure out how to work the electricity and almost got it.. but gave up and went to ask reception :( Paiseh. Naturally this place is more expensive than K's House but K's House does not have a branch in Hokkaido.
After resting for a bit, we went out to dinner nearby. By the way, right next to our hotel is Coco Ichibanya. My mum remembers it as the 'place with the 7 slices of sotong' cos when I brougt her to Coco Ichibanya, that's what she remembers from the food servings.
We went to Paseo (think it's considered at JR Tower) and had dinner at this place called Jinbei. My mum had the Jinbei set which is supposed to highlight the specialties of Hokkaido. It includes sashimi, Kind Crab tempura, prawns, a nabe (heheheheheheh), a portion of noodles, a portion of rice with ikura and and urchin. All for approximately SGD 42. I think it's a good price. I had a butter potato and a crab with cheese spring roll. My mum also gave me a King Crab tempura leg. She had two.
Quite a low key day but I think my mum's exhausted from all that heat and hilly areas in Kyoto. Tomorrow is a headache. Will have to maximise the time but public transport in furano is not that convenient.
Oh and I believe someone is smoking next door. :(
