Char Kway Teow and Music

Got a concert on tonight so I had arranged to meet my friend after her seminar at International Plaza so we can go off to dinner together. I arrived a little earlier as I had gone to NYP before that to return my graduation attire.

As I reached the place, I decided to chill at CBTL a bit and got a warm chocolate cake as well as an English Breakfast. I sat down, SMS-ed my friend and about 3 bites later, she appeared lol. The seminar ended earlier and she was already on the way to the MRT to meet me when I SMS-ed her.

Finished up at CBTL and went off to dinner at Jalan Bukit Merah. We arrived at Blk 132, Jalan Bukit Merah and there is this smallish coffee shop with a Char Kway Teow stall there. The Char Kway Teow stall was not crowded (I had thought it might be crowded) but the Char Kway Teow was pretty good. I have to explain that I actually thought it tasted pretty normal, but I have learnt that 'normal' food to me is pretty delicious (or terribly unhealthy or usually both) because I had been spoilt rotten by the food in my neighbourhood back when it used to be really good.

The Char Kway Teow here has lard. You can customise it, like for me I request no bean sprouts, no chilli and no cockles. And they didn't even raise an eyebrow. The couple that runs the stall is Teochew too and they are so nice.

If you are in the area, you have to go and try. However, if you want healthy Char Kway Teow, please get lost.

After the dinner, we went back to Tanjong Pagar to attend a concert at the Singapore Conference Hall. Tonight's concert is a percussion concert. Theme is somewhat "East meets West" and when I got the programme I told my friend that one of the movement's title looks really 'iffy' to me. turns out I really disliked that movement. I didn't like the concert much as I typically do not like contemporary styles, but the last piece was pretty good. They had the Chinese Guy and the Scottish Lady facing off each other from the opposite ends of the stage and I thought the effect was pretty good. The music of that piece was pretty good too. Thankfully at least one piece was nice.
