I have just received a reply from NEA (with regards to the guy that embarrassed my mum while serving her a Notice to Quit -NTQ), and boy am I hopping mad!!!
I'll just post some key phrases.
"When serving the NTQ, our EHO explained to your mother that she was owing rent and also advised her to make payment of the rent by the end of Dec 2005. He does not recall embarrassing your mother in front of other stallholders or customers"
This guy very good memory hor, or very good EQ.
"Moreover, he noted that your mother accepted the NTQ without any comment and had countersigned on the copy."
Or else what? Don't accept the NTQ? Don't sign??
"She was in a good mood and did not appear to be upset."
According to which psychiatrist?
Of course they say they told the EHO to exercise more caution and sensitivity... but their reply tells me they don;t believe the problem existed. SQC certified somemore. Huh.

In fact the whole issue was that my mother tried to explain that she did not have enough money to pay rent cos she was not operating the stall.
The EHO then asked other stallowners whether they had any money and said that :"Everyone also says they do not have money"
That was so uncalled for.

No choice leh, if she don;t continue paying rental, means she has to give up the tsall and then clear her debts with the suppliers. Worse. So until we have a better solution, have to pay the rent loh.

How much rental did ur mum own them? Perhaps u can try borrowing the money from relatives and friends 1st.

To ah Tay: Yeah we will be paying by installments of $500 plus plus each month loh. Eat a bit more grass should be no problem.
To DK: The total will probably add up to over 2k. Not a huge amount but it's by no means a small sum
I don't believe in borrowing money from people. We worked out something with NEA and it should be ok.
I ought to tell myself I should not lend people money too, sometimes people just don't pay you back.
